Taxotere Hair Loss

Taxotere Hair Loss

Taxotere Hair Loss claims have been brought as a result of the side effects of this drug. If you have been diagnosed with cancer, you may have been given Taxotere to treat the disease. While hair loss can be common with chemotherapy drugs, if you have experienced permanent hair loss after being given Taxotere, then you may be entitled to damages.

What is Taxotere?

Taxotere (docetaxel) is an injectable cancer medication that works to stop the spread of cancer cells, and is often prescribed to patients who have breast, lung, prostate, stomach, or neck cancer.

What Complications Can I Experience While Taking Taxotere?

Some individuals who have taken Taxotere to help treat certain types of cancer have found themselves suffering from permanent alopecia (hair loss). This can be disfiguring and embarrassing for many patients.

In 2015, the FDA required a label change for Taxotere to include the fact that cases of permanent hair loss have occurred after taking the drug. Unfortunately, the warning came too late for some patients.

Taxotere Lawsuits

Lawsuits filed against the Sanofi-Aventis, the maker of Taxotere, allege that the manufacturer knew that permanent hair loss was a potential side effect, yet failed to warn patients who used the drug.

As of July of this year, 33 cases have been filed against Taxotere’s manufacturer. This early interest in litigation is significant enough that lawyers are seeking to consolidate the cases into a multi-district litigation (MDL) to make the legal process more efficient. This is not a class action lawsuit; each plaintiff will be able to have their own individual claim instead of being grouped into other claims. Whereas class action settlements are similar, mass tort litigation allows plaintiffs who have suffered greater damages to receive a larger amount of compensation.

If you have suffered permanent hair loss after taking Taxotere to treat your cancer, then you may be eligible to receive compensation for your experience. Damages that you may be able to receive include:

• Medical expenses
• Pain and suffering
• Loss of enjoyment
Loss of consortium and companionship
