Dillon Thies

Dillon A. Thies is a lifelong South Carolinian who was born and raised in the Charleston area. He attended the Honors College at the University of South Carolina, receiving a B.A. in Advertising, with a minor in Political Science, in 2015. During his undergraduate studies, he was a member of the Delta Epsilon Iota academic honor society as well as the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. He was also able to visit Amsterdam for a study abroad session comparing the healthcare systems of the United States and The Netherlands. He was active in various intramural sports as well as many other aspects of campus life. As a part of the Honors College curriculum, Dillon successfully defended his senior thesis on the topic of Direct to Consumer Advertising of Prescription Drugs. Dillon remained at the University of South Carolina for law school, receiving his J.D. in 2018. He was honored to have been included on the Dean’s list while receiving both of these degrees.

Dillon remains an avid Gamecock fan and on many fall afternoons can be found cheering on the football team in Williams-Brice stadium. While pursuing his law degree, Dillon was a summer intern for Frazier Law Offices and also spent time working at the Medical University of South Carolina. His first job out of law school was also at MUSC, assisting with the regulatory process for clinical trials. He then went on to work for Motley-Rice Law Firm in Mt. Pleasant, SC, where he spent 6 years as a member of the Securities team. While at Motley-Rice, he worked on a number of mass-tort and multi-district litigation cases, including the largest civil trial in U.S. history: The National Prescription Opiate Litigation, as well as various cases brought against manufacturers of medical devices, and Social Media Harm litigation.

When not cheering on his beloved Gamecock football team, Dillon can be found at the beach or spending time with family and friends, and chasing after his dog, Poptart.
