Amtrak’s deadly collision with a CSX train could have been prevented. The NTSB is currently investigating this accident. Two people have been killed in the train accident and more than 100 passengers were injured when the Amtrak train collided with a CSX freight train. According to the NTSB’s initial investigation, a CSX employee switched the train tracks so that the Amtrak train was moved off of the main line. Further investigations revealed that the Amtrak train was not equipped with an upgraded positive train control braking system to stop the train. It has been reported that the train was traveling at speeds of 50mph at the time of collision. Several more interviews are set to be conducted this week to sort out the facts of this train collision and who was ultimately responsible. Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims of this tragic accident.
